Summer Camp for Chester County Nonprofits

Since 2009, Capacity for Change has hosted an annual Summer Camp for Chester County Nonprofits at Temenos Retreat Center in July of each year. We donate our time and bring in knowledgeable colleagues who also donate their time to share lessons and insights to support the work of organizations doing great work in our backyard. Each camp has been a fun and motivational day–not just for our campers–for us, as well.

Join us:
Our 2020 Summer Camp is July 16, 2020, 9:30 – 11:30 – Our 12th Year!
Yes, we have to go online, but we have lots of strategies and plans to make it interactive and personal. We hope to offer a bright spot in your summer. Our theme: Fuel for Recovery and Adaptation.

“This was my first time coming to Summer Camp, and it was the best workshop I’ve ever attended.” - Summer Camp Participant, 2017

“I don’t know how you do it. Each year you manage to make us feel so inspired and connected while providing us with some really important information and valuable take aways – all while we have a GREAT time.” - Summer Camp Participant, 2016

“Thanks for the most important reminders and practical strategies to help us work more effectively and efficiently! I think Summer Camp is extremely valuable for those who devote so much time and energy to making our world better. Thanks to you all!” - Summer Camp Participant, 2016

“A question I was asked in one of the camp conversations was, what inspires me? I thought about it for a few seconds, and answered, ‘Events like Summer Camp.’ Your team did a marvelous job and gave us many ideas for our organization. We’re already looking forward to next year.”

“Keep having the summer camps! They are so phenomenal in terms of presenting new ways of thinking about our agencies and in being able to gather so many nonprofits together in one place to share their narratives, the challenges they face, and their solutions to problems. What a learning experience!”
- Summer Camp Participant, 2014

“A great day. I already asked, ‘Mom, can I come back next year?’”
- Summer Camp Participant, 2013

“No words can completely describe the “fun while learning” experience that takes place at your Summer Camp for Non-Profits. This was my second time attending and both times I left feeling rejuvenated, excited, connected, engaged, inspired, informed, etc. I am in awe of the work and time you put into it, which is obvious right down to the last adorable detail but I also appreciate how relaxed you make us all feel…I went straight from Summer Camp to our Board meeting and could not stop talking about the experience and what I learned. I was quite wound up with enthusiasm.”
- Summer Camp Participant, 2012

“Thank you for a thought-provoking yet relaxing and healing day with opportunities to make connections and reflect. My favorite camp activities used to be canoeing and singing by the campfire. Now I will need to revise my list.”
- Summer Camp Participant, 2011

“I just wanted to let you know how very much I enjoyed being part of the 2010 Summer Camp!  I really did not know what to expect going into the sessions. It was truly a great venue for like-minded people to get together. The mosaic was a wonderful team-building project! You did a great job, in a very non-threatening, low-key way, and it certainly made an impact on me and refreshed my spirit and vision for my organization.”

“The Nonprofit Summer Camp gave us the opportunity to really reflect on our work, look outside of our own situation, and think about the bigger picture. We came away with new insight and gained perspective. It was a privilege to participate in such a great learning and relationship building experience.”
